ENIGMATA

John Zorn

Tzadik,  2011

Marc Ribot/guitar
Trevor Dunn/electric 5-string bass

I've done a lot of weird things in my life, but this recording, by God, is one of the weirdest. Usually after any particular session I put the whole thing out of my mind. The intensity, intimacy and weight of giving your all in the studio is exhausting, exhilarating and not something you want to carry around with you for too long. So, I forget about it, once my work is done. Then, months later, I receive the finished product and have a listen, partly out of curiosity and as a way to analyze myself. When I got this one in the mail, I laughed. I laughed out loud. Then I texted Zorn and told him I was laughing. I laughed hysterically and I'm not really sure why.
